Donations for Care Hampers
Towards the end of the Gospel of Matthew (Mat 25:34-40), Jesus gives a very clear teaching about the characteristics of true disciples of Jesus. That well-known 1960s hymn comes to mind: They'll Know We Are Christians by Our Love. But Jesus actually says it stronger than this: "just as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me." Jesus suffers when our neighbour suffers. Therfore, inasmuch as we are reasonably able, Christians are compelled by their faith to assist others in need.
Both St John's and St Alban's have a long tradition of collecting donations for local people/families in need. At both churches, donations for our "Care Packs" can be dropped off and these will be prepared for distribution to people in need. We collaborate with the Tully Support Centre and the Innisfail Community Support Centre in this outreach.
Items suitable for donation include (for men, women or children):
Contact (Tully): Faye Sylvester, .
Contact (Innisfail): Yvonne Wright, 0448 221 984.
